If what ArcXIX claims to be true, is. Then Sarah Palin and I have a lot more in common than I’d previously thought.
She’s doing what most mothers would. Protecting her daughter and her grandchild.

But I don’t understand–why not just tell the truth? Certainly you would protect your daughter and your grandchild, but you wouldn’t be ashamed of them…
If you had the opportunity to give your daughter a chance to re-do one of the biggest mistakes of her life, if you could take the (forgive the word) onus off of her and put it on yourself, wouldn’t you?
Not everything is logical. Not everything is based on shame (a lot is) but if you had a second chance to preserve your daughter’s childhood, wouldn’t you take it?
I would, but if I were a public figure I think I’d assume it would come out eventually, and that honesty is better than trying to hide something.
I don’t know if I’d call it one of the biggest mistakes of her daughter’s life, either. She had sex (poor decision) but then decided to give birth to the baby (good, brave, difficult decision, regardless of whether the child had Down’s Syndrome or not). The big mistake was to have sex in the first place, rather than the having the baby part, and I think lots of 16 and 17 year olds have sex–they just don’t get publicly ‘caught’ and then get held up as a bad example.
I’m not so sure that this is true, anyway. Too many people would know if the daughter were pregnant. Seems to me that this could just be people trying to cast Palin (who seems to be very cool) as a liar.
This is a dirty and downright disgusting rumour. Down syndrome is more common, 1 in 20 more common, in older mothers then it is in younger mothers. I say will kill this rumour right now. It was bad when they only targeted Trigg, now they are going after Palin’s daughter? Who wrote this rule book on smearing, John Edwards? Geez…
Well, the recent news report has the Palin family stating that Bristol is 5 months pregnant with her first (and is planning to get married to the father).
Now maybe she’s 5 months pregnant, and had a child 4 months ago; but that seems unlikely to me.
Bloggers starting lies should be ashamed of themselves…You will never hear the posters of these lies or the commenters agreeing with the bloggers apologize for such slander when the truth comes out. When the rumors are proved to false about Palin already being a grandmother it should make the left look bad, but it will not. Just like it did not phase them when golden boy Edwards was outed and when CLlnton had his indesgressions.
This is a lie started by the daily KOS which is a cook liberal blog that makes up false and malicious lies and rumors such as these and it is a shame they make it into the mainstream media with absolutely nothing to give them any sort of credibility.
Other issues have been raised such as, “Can Sarah Palin be the VP and an effective mom to her kids?” I like what Anderson Cooper from CNN asked in response to this, “Isn’t it sexist to propose that Sarah could not be an effective mom to her kids and the VP? I have never heard someone say, can ‘he’ be President and be an effective father?” Unfortunately there is very little that most media personalities and outlets want to focus on about Sarah, because she has been extremely successful in everything she has set out to accomplish, so they are grasping and clinging to some of the most pointless stories I have ever heard of. Funny Joe Biden didn’t get this kind of vetting from the media.
Hey ncarnes, did daily KOS start the Obama = Muslim rumours? How about Rev. Wright, or the elitist stuff? Can we also trace the “Michelle Obama is uppity” thing back to them to?

All the arguing. It’s not rumors if it’s the truth. And the truth WILL come out. It’s been floating around Alaska for months now. Here are the photos, page down half way and see evidence from the summer myspace page of Mercede who is the sister of baby-daddy Levi Johnston. In the captions, she refers to Sarah Palin as “mommy-in-law” and the baby Trig as her new baby brother.

The page has since been taken down, but the evidence remains. Someone will talk. It’s a small town. Lies have short legs. RNC: Get the truth out now and do some damage control. All you finger-pointing people telling others to lay off, how about sitting back and saying, ok maybe there’s some truth to be told. Maybe you should just shut up before you look anymore stupid and judgmental and un-Christian like. Those preaching the loudest usually have the biggest skeletons to hide.
yes indeed it is a small town. I know a teacher who works there. Palin is a dangerous woman who could knife you in the back all the time smiling.
Wouldn’t she have to lie to protect the baby? This baby is going to require a lot of care, likely including surgeries, where would the funding be for this care if the child was not on her health insurance. Another brave , courageous move, to protect her family. The rest of us, no, we’d tell the truth, and lose our homes to the first heart surgery. Cheaters and liars often win!
If Sarah Palin would’ve refused the offer just because of her daughters situation, how do you think the daughter would feel? For the rest of her life she would be hurting knowing that her mother refused the offer jsut because of her. Sarah is doing this FOR her daughters well being. She should be applauded.
